Emine Pirhasan is a Turkish-British singer-songwriter whose music blends folk, blues, rock, soul, and Eastern influences into a distinctive and deeply personal sound.

Born in Istanbul and raised in the UK, she has spent more than two decades performing across Europe. Her songwriting combines personal experience with vivid storytelling, exploring themes of love, loss, identity, transformation, and belonging.

Described by BBC Radio 2 as having “a voice of beguiling contradictions”, Emine draws on a rich musical background that spans blues, folk, jazz, rock, soul, and traditional influences from both East and West. The result is music that feels both rooted and expansive, balancing intimacy with emotional depth.

Throughout her career she has performed at venues and festivals internationally and has worked as a backing vocalist for artists including Valerie June, Lissie, and Joan As Police Woman. She also co-founded and fronted the band Sister Mary and the Choirboys, releasing two albums of original material and touring extensively.

Alongside her performing career, Emine holds a Master’s degree in Popular Music from Goldsmiths, University of London and has contributed to a wide range of musical projects, from film soundtracks to collaborative recording sessions.

She is currently completing her debut solo album.
